Skincare and Sustainability

As things have progressed with our plant based skin care journey, we couldn't help but feel the need to tread as lightly as possible when it comes to the impact we have on our planet. We've decided to build a small bit of hope into our business model. That hope is if you come to know the benefits of our plant based products it will inspire a love for those plants. If you love the plants, you will want to protect them. It's small, but every little bit matters. Our first priority when sourcing ingredients is to find as many local, wildcrafted or fair trade producers as possible. We're not perfect, but we have made progress and it's an ongoing effort. Every time we locate a supplier whose ethics align with our own, we do a little happy dance. In a perfect world, everything we use would come from local producers who we know and support. However, some of the plant oils we use come from other parts of the world. We understand the consumption of resources it takes to ship something around the globe. There are some wonderful specialty oils and butters which we chose to use because of their amazing skin benefits AND  they are produced by local tradespeople and distributed by small suppliers who work closely with the producers to make sure they are  fairly compensated.  Our purchase of their oils directly provides an income to the people who gather and press these miraculous oils. We feel good about that. There are also a few ingredients which come from mass marketed ingredient suppliers but those are the exception. What does all this have to do with skincare? Well, we believe as we hope you do, that we need to be conscientious consumers in every aspect of our lives. What you put on your skin matters too. Skin care is a multi-billion dollar industry of mass marketed, cleverly advertised and hugely environmentally impactful products. It can all be very confusing and your choice matters.
